When making a future appointment, the reception team will ask if you want to have a 'reminder' printed out or an email sent to you, or both. For those customers yet to provide us an email address or mobile number please share if able do so when visiting the dental practice or send it using our web contact form.
A number of weeks and days prior to your next appointment our computer system will email and/or text you a reminder notification about your appointment. Should you wish to cancel or change this appointment then you MUST telephone the reception team.
Our computer system can only store one mobile number for reminders per patient record.
Your dentist typically recommends you visit the practice least once a year to make sure that you are looking after your teeth properly and to have their condition checked. If you have sensitive teeth or are at risk of dental problems, you may be asked to visit more frequently and/or see the private dental hygienist.
Sometimes your dentist will recommend you to visit every two years based on NICE or appropriate dental health guidelines. Please always follow the recommendations of your dentist and dental hygienist.
All checkups and as necessary follow-up treatments cost money. Either you will pay the dental practice directly, or if NHS the UK government will pay part (or all) of the charge. Only NHS customers with the appropriate exemption (proven e.g. by age or exemption certificate) have nil charges.
Should a NHS customer have treatments from the private list, these treatments will always be paid for by the customer regardless of any NHS exemption.
The NHS asks that all dental practices indicate if they will see new patients subject to availability. Wedgwood House dental practice sometimes does have availability and we say those with dental pain to ring after 9:15am daily to check if there are available appointment gaps in the diary. If there are appointment gaps and if your needs have sufficient priority (all requests are triaged) you will be seen that day - sorry being seen for a pain appointment doesn't guarantee you will become a regular customer.
Occasionally the dental practice asks prospective patients to join a waiting list to see a dentist. We had such a NHS list earlier this year (July/Aug 2024), but this facility is currently closed. Our website will announce future registrations lists.
At this time (2/10/2024) only our private dentist and private hygienist lists are open.
We recommend all patients to consider a visit to the private hygienist if their periodontal health needs improvement (i.e. a 2 or more BPE score).
Sorry we don't have a NHS hygienist or therapist alternative.
